|“Affirmative actions for the promotion of women in economic decision-making”, PROGRESS|

Elements of the European Commission, but also large companies research results show that the increased participation of women in economic decision-making have positive effects on the enterprise level, and economic systems. However, the participation rate of women in economic decision-making, both at national and at European level remains extremely low. In Greece, according to recent data, only 5.8% of executive positions on the boards of companies owned by women, and there is no woman able chief executive (CEO) to the largest Greek companies, although an investigation was launched in 2012 and covered the 500 largest companies in terms of turnover and women in managerial positions showed that 9% of the most profitable companies have female chief. The proposed action is based on the National Program of Substantive Gender Equality 2010-2013, initiated by the General Secretariat for Gender Equality (GSGE) in accordance with the policy priorities of the “Strategy for Gender Equality 2010-2015” The program is also compatible with the European strategy’s “Europe 2020” top priorities for employment and a smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.
