A few words about the thematic field
The current business environment imposes size-related and disproportionate barriers to small and medium enterprises which operate and grow within particularly demanding market conditions. Small and medium enterprises face particular barriers and difficulties in order to gain access to financing, while competition is intense in both national and international levels and radical technological changes are dramatically transforming economies. These barriers combined with major shifts in socio-economic systems including digitisation and the structural characteristics of Greek small and medium enterprises, such as the high rate of self-employment, small business size, low innovation capacity and limited range of collaborations, shape the major challenges in the country's entrepreneurial environment.
In this framework, the support of innovative and resilient entrepreneurship constitutes the basic priority over the next few years, in order to create the proper conditions for SMEs, leading them on the growth, innovation and internationalisation path.
The support of entrepreneurship constitutes one of the main areas of activity of IME GSEVEE and is developed on the following axes:
- Technological development, innovation, development of new and differentiated products and services, IPR’s strategic management and internationalisation.
- New business models and digital transformation of SMEs.
- Collaborations, clusters and innovation networks.
- Strategic and growth planning for small enterprises.

Our goals
IME GSEVEE aims at strengthening the sustainability of small and medium enterprises, improving their operation and their adaptation to the current needs of innovative entrepreneurship, through the use of new business support methods and tools.
What we do
In order to contribute to the support of entrepreneurship for small and medium enterprises, IME GSEVEE monitors through data and analysis all the SME’s related issues and provides scientifically valid insights and outputs.
The most important aspect of its business supporting activities is the planning of tools for the support of enterprises choosing to invest in innovation and collaborations as strategic choices for their differentiation. IME GSEVEE identifies business collaborations as a core priority area and provides support to small companies opening up their business models to join teams, business clusters and innovation networks, following cooperation and "open innovation" as a means for their sustainability and growth.
