A few words about the thematic field
The conditions of the economic and consequently the social and political crisis, which have prevailed in recent years, had a significant impact on Greece. This situation has led to the abrupt reduction of the otherwise deficient social state, with a simultaneous decline in income and the deregulation of labour relations. At the same time, the effort to manage issues such as the refugee-immigration influx and the aging population, which both emerge with particular intensity influences significantly the shaping of social and employment policies.
The field of study of social policies and promotion of employment includes the monitoring of many respective issues, such as the pension and social security system, the structure of employment, with emphasis placed on the study of the consequences of adopting flexible types of work, the increase in unemployment, "brain drain", the adopting of new forms of active employment policies, the increase of multiculturalism in Greek society, as well as the general reduction in public expenditure for health and the subsequent degradation of care and hospitalization services. Changes in the field of social policy and employment policies have a significant impact on the environment of small and medium enterprises and their human resources, making the forecast for their daily operation even more difficult.
Within the framework of this specific thematic field, the aim of IME GSEVEE is to research, study and interpret the changes taking place with respect to the increase in employment and the contribution to the shaping of a favorable business environment. The main aim of this monitoring is the effective and productive intervention in the public debate on the aforementioned issues, through the formulation of concrete policy proposals and the effective participation in the social dialogue.
More specifically, IME GSEVEE pursues the documentation of the positions of GSEVEE on social policy and employment policies issues, as well as the evaluation of changes made in these fields, while exploring their impact on the operation of SMEs and their employees. At the same time, it aims at informing the employees of SMEs about the developments taking place in these fields, ultimately aiming at strengthening and upgrading the participation of the social partners in the respective policy and decision making instruments.
What we do
In order to achieve the above, IME GSEVEE elaborates studies, surveys, briefing notes and policy papers and publishes relevant publications.
